Another happy customer
This customer spent quite some time debating what to do with this deck. After some thought the customer decided it would be great to have the deck planks running in a different direction on one third of the deck. The customer is always right and the finish looks great.

I have recently had an opportunity to see a beautiful Walnut EverX deck in Tamahere. The lawn was about the same colour mid drought.

The year kicks of with another three decks at the beautiful Waihi Beach. One happens to be a neighbour at our family bach. He is a builder and as I said to him if I didn't believe this was an outstanding product I wouldn't sell it to him and risk having a disappointed neighbour. He an his family have young grandchildren and they are thrilled with the look and feel. A strong plus was that even in FULL sun it was warm but not too hot to walk on.

Kwila has been advertised at $7.98 per metre today for Ex 100mm wide boards ie. 90mm finished. This works out at $88.65 per square metre including GST plus waste. Permadeck EverX is $86.25 per sq.m including GST. Then, no staining, no bleeding, no splinters, no warping, no splitting, 75% quicker to lay, all true and straight. Its a no brainer - I know what I would choose.

The plastic we use is HDPE Key things to note with our process is we use only virgin resin and some post industrial resin. All clean, so no contamination concerns as you experience using recycled post consumer waste product. Virgin resin ensures you have quality resin only, so you can control melt index (temperature the resin breaks down) which gives proper encapsulation of the wood fibre. This is impossible to do when using recycled plastic and often these products that use this you can see chunks of plastic that did not melt during the extrusion process. This leads to voids in the product, wood fibre unprotected, and is what will lead to product failure potential, and mold attaching the product once installed. We pre pallitize the wood fibre and resin prior to the extruding process, this removes further moisture from the wood fibre, which if this process is not done, leads to the fibres shrinking once installed and exposed to the elments since the moisture comes out of the product the same as standard lumber. We are also are the only manufacturer that uses the Strandex technology in our decking which ensures proper encapsulation of the wood fibres, so they will not deteriorate over time. The article you attached is a very basic pro cons of composites. Our mixture gives the end product what we feel are the best traits and quality for a workable product, easy to cut, no melting issues when cutting, low maintenance product, that has the stronger characteristics of wood without a lot of the maintenance and wood characteristics that are not wanted (cracking, splintering). The more plastic used the more issues of expansion contraction you are faced with, less natural look and feel to the decking.

Permadeck has a Blog
Well finally Permadeck gets a Blog underway. We are really excited that the fruits of our labours are starting to emerge. Key big jobs are now being seen and Architects and Specifiers are becoming increasingly aware of our No.1 position in the market. We are not very quietly confident that the quality o our product is what will win the day. All the marketing, exaggeration and advertising in the world will be worthless if the product doesn't perform. Suffice it to say we do not expect much of the cheaper product to be around for much longer.
